The Governor of the Central Bank of Syria, Dr. Hazem Qarfoul, discussed with the president and members of the Union of Syrian Chambers of Commerce ways to facilitate commercial work by facilitating banking procedures and financing operations and reducing commissions on financial transfers and materials subject to financing decisions and allowed to be imported as well as obstacles to commercial transactions.
The Governor of the Central Bank of Syria confirmed that the bank will soon issue a package of new measures that contribute to stimulating the economy and advancing production, indicating that foreign trade transactions are subject to effective foreign exchange regulations.
Qarfoul pointed out that the Central is ready to discuss its decisions and procedures with the concerned events and that merchants who have licenses can import foreign currency dealings “within the official channels only” in terms of financing from banks or exchange institutions or from their own resources or selling foreign currencies to the central or buying it from it.
Karfoul explained that the Central Police Judicial Officer is coordinating with the Ministry of Interior and the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Authority regarding the implementation of Legislative Decree 3 and 4 of 2020 and the Central can be reviewed when there is any complaint in this regard indicating that the local dealings according to the two decrees mentioned are in the Syrian pound and does not prevent possession of the pieces The foreigner.
Representatives of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce stressed the importance of cooperating with the Central and publishing clarifications on its procedures, holding workshops and introductory seminars on the mechanism for implementing Legislative Decree 3 and 4 and restricting business dealings within the official channels to support the economy and the national currency.
