DuoDay: companies and disabled people meet on May 14

2020-02-20T17:23:56.797Z

The event, which has become European, allows two people, one valid and the other with a disability, to collaborate for a day.

Because companies have a fundamental role in making society more inclusive, Sophie Cluzel, Secretary of State for People with Disabilities has chosen one of them - Malakoff Humanis, which has 6.8% of people with disabilities - to kick off the third DuoDay this Thursday. The event, which has become European, will take place on May 14, 2020. It allows a disabled person to discover a professional world by forming a team with an employee of the company that welcomes them.

Last year, thanks to the mobilization of 6,800 companies, some 26,000 people participated in this event to form 13,000 duets. This day is an opportunity to break down prejudices, restore confidence, promote acculturation to a difference, and lift a lot of self-censorship on the people themselves. It is also a lever to take on a managerial collective. Now we have to go even further, ”warned Sophie Cluzel before an audience of disabled people, actors accompanying them to employment and business leaders.

51,000 disabled job seekers

Especially with the 51,000 disabled job seekers in France, the expectations are enormous. Last year 57% of disabled people who participated in DuoDay were motivated by the hope of finding a job there. And DuoDay is bearing fruit, since this professional setting gives them the opportunity to go further, leading to an internship, a CDD or even a CDI. During the 2019 vintage, 12% of them had a work opportunity. "A sign that the commitment of companies is not ephemeral, but of course carries the long term, " said the minister.

To streamline the organization of this annual meeting, the platform for connecting businesses, the disabled and support structures (Pôle emploi, Cap emploi, medico-social centers, etc.) has been improved. It now offers direct contact with employers, and people with disabilities can submit up to five applications, as well as their CVs. For its part, the employer, when he has made his choice, can also discuss with the applicant.

In 2019, the service companies were the most numerous to mobilize during this day (74%), which does not concern only large groups, since 54% of VSEs and SMEs responded present. Just under three months before the event, some 2,500 people with disabilities and 13,000 companies have already registered on the platform, which augurs well for a real increase in power for DuoDay.
