Customs and dockers confined to their homes, carriers absent due to sanitary measures ... For twelve days, Chinese ports have been idling, and containers have accumulated in those of Tian Jin and Shanghai. This congestion, which affects all sectors, weighs particularly on the French food industry. China absorbs 150,000 tonnes of French pork each year, or 7% of national production and 20% of its exports.

The same goes for French dairy farmers, whose products have been prized by the Chinese since the contaminated milk crisis in 2008. Half of cream exports go to China, or 36,000 tonnes. It is 40% in liquid milk (38 tonnes) and infant milk (50,000 tonnes). Ditto for the wine sector, for which China is the second largest export market.
