Coronavirus: SNCF reimburses April subscriptions

2020-03-31T04:21:37.743Z

For travelers who have a TGV or TER subscription, the SNCF plans to suspend direct debits in April.

No train, no direct debit! The government having decided last Friday to extend the confinement at least until April 15, the SNCF has logically taken commercial measures for its subscribers. It must be said that almost 90% of its trains are in the garage. And that from Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône) to Lille (North), from Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin) to Bordeaux (Gironde), via Paris, only one watchword prevails: "Stay at home", except if your trip is essential.

For TGV customers who have subscribed to the "My annual package" subscription, the direct debit for April, which takes place between March 20 and April 19, will be zero. A free month that could be renewed, depending on the circumstances, in May. For those who paid their annual subscription at once, the reimbursement terms will be detailed after the confinement period.

Second half of March: "The question will arise"

For 16-27 year olds subscribing to the TGVMax, a package which allows them to travel unlimitedly for 79 € per month, the company offers the same commercial gesture: the levy for April was suspended.

As for the thousands of passengers subscribed to the TER, the Regions, which manage these daily trains, all suspended the levies in April. Even Ile-de-France, with its Transiliens, made this choice.

Finally, for the last fifteen days of March, the period during which confinement began, no overall reimbursement measure was taken. Neither by the SNCF, nor by the operators. "This is necessarily a question that will arise, warns Jean Lenoir, vice-president of the national federation of transport user associations (FNAUT). But after confinement. The emergency today is sanitary. The compensation, we will see that later. "

As a reminder, for those who have SNCF travel reservations in progress until April 30, all tickets are exchangeable and refundable at no cost.
