Are you looking for wipers, kibble for your dog or a new coffee maker? As France begins its fourth week of containment, most of the brands have organized to open certain services. Many obviously do home delivery, others offer drive. Who is open? What products are available for sale? How to buy them? We take stock sector by sector.

High-tech and culture: place at the drive at Boulanger and Fnac-Darty

Since the start of confinement, the cultural and high-tech brands have all set up a contactless delivery service. According to our information, Boulanger and Fnac-Darty will also launch a drive. "This is contactless click & collect: you order on the site and you can come and collect the product outside the store the next day, only in the morning," explains Benoit Jaubert, chief operating officer of the Fnac-Darty Group, stressing that this device requires the presence of one to two employees on site.

Boulanger will deploy a similar service in half of its network in the coming days. Its competitor, Darty will offer it in thirty of its stores this Tuesday and Fnac in twenty points of sale by the end of the week.

If the test is successful, this system will be extended to a majority of the group's stores in a fortnight. “The idea is to be able to respond to urgent needs. We also want to prepare for the future, post-confinement, where this mode of deliverance will have its place while social distancing will certainly still be advocated, ”says Benoît Jaubert.

Gardening brands will soon sell vegetable plants

For those who would like to take advantage of confinement to maintain their garden, it will soon be possible to buy vegetable plants from garden centers. The government has just authorized the sale of these items considered to be "essential products". “We are thinking about how to organize our points of sale in order to market these items. Should we open this department? Create a clean space outside? Asks the Jardiland spokesperson.

Since the start of containment, garden stores were only allowed to sell animal feed and hygiene products. If Truffaut has closed all its points of sale by marketing these products only online, Gamm Vert or Jardiland have chosen to keep part of their network open by leaving access only to the shelves for animals. For other articles, Gamm Vert offers delivery, Jardiland click and collect.

McDonald's, KFC and Pizza Hut test drive and home delivery

The restaurants have obviously all closed. But some large chains are organizing to offer “contactless” delivery and / or drive. This is the case of McDonald's, which is preparing to reopen this service in around thirty of its restaurants.

While some employees have expressed their serious concerns, the brand is currently testing in twelve restaurants in the west of France and three in Ile-de-France "an operational guide aimed at significantly strengthening health measures for our staff and our customers on the drive and home delivery channels. »This provides for masks, reduced teams to avoid crossing, marking on the ground to respect a minimum distance of one meter.

After stopping all activity, Pizza Hut has also returned to a “contactless” home delivery service while KFC (a brand from the same group) is testing a drive and delivery service in some of its restaurants.

Wine merchants: Nicolas reopens his stores

Similar to the food sector, wine merchants are part of these businesses authorized to open. Almost all had closed their doors the week of March 16. Including the Nicolas channel. "We wanted to give ourselves time to think about a security plan that was secure for our employees and customers," explains Christopher Hermelin, marketing manager for the brand.

After a test in around twenty stores, the wine specialist has just decided to reopen all of its points of sale "gradually". This Monday, 323 Nicolas out of 500 had thus opened their doors with very clear instructions: "only one customer at a time, who is forbidden to touch the bottles and the obligation to respect the marking on the ground", details t he recalled that the pedestrian drive and home delivery services are also operational.

"We do not expect to have a level of sales similar to that of before confinement but it is above all a question of maintaining a social bond and of sending a strong message to the other wine merchants by showing that it is possible to to open. "

Auto centers continue to provide repairs

If the “store” section is closed, certain garages and auto centers (Speedy, Norauto, Feu vert, Midas or even Euromaster) continue to offer a breakdown service for those who need their vehicle to get around. All the procedures for making appointments are detailed on the centers website. And if you need spare parts, also know that Feu vert offers free delivery while Norauto has set up a contactless withdrawal service on "a selection of basic necessities for vehicles" in around 80 emergency workshops.

Note also that approximately half of the two-wheeler sales and repair shops, which are authorized to remain open during this confinement period, are in fact open.

DIY offers contactless withdrawal

Even if the DIY stores are among those authorized to open, almost all of them preferred to set up a contactless withdrawal service. This is the case of Leroy Merlin, Castorama, Brico Dépôt, Bricomarché, Brico Cash and Bricorama (the last three belonging to the group Mousquetaires). Only basic necessities are available for sale. For example, Leroy Merlin only sells 6,000 references.

At Mr Bricolage, if a click & collect service has also been set up, some stores in the network (especially in rural areas) also remain open in order to allow customers to access essential products.

Finally, individuals in a less hurry can also use the home delivery service offered by certain brands (Leroy Merlin, Castorama and Bricomarché in particular) with an average delivery time of between four and ten days.

Decoration, fashion and toys: only for delivery

While it is possible to order online in a large majority of the major decoration, fashion and toy chains, only home delivery is - for now - available in these sectors.

Among the textile brands (which can no longer offer click & collect), some also offer delivery costs (H & M, Celio, Lacoste, etc.). All of them have also extended the duration of the returns policy for items (sometimes up to a hundred days).

For home decor chains, home delivery is also the only possible option, but its implementation is sometimes difficult. Conforama only offers this service in around thirty of its stores. Since March 24, Ikea has also opened online orders for a majority of its items (excluding small accessories and furniture weighing less than 20 kg) but only for Parisians and residents of the inner suburbs.

Finally, the toy, whose stores are obviously closed, offers a generally limited delivery service. PicWicToys does not deliver to all cities, La Grande Récré is not able to send its customers parcels over 20 kg ... And faced with the influx of orders, Maxitoys was even forced to temporarily suspend its home delivery service.
