Chairman of the Management Board of BPCE (Banques Populaires, Caisses d'Epargne, Natixis, Bred), Laurent Mignon assures that his group is at the forefront in terms of loans guaranteed by the State. According to him, the priority is to control the health crisis, not to revive economic activity as quickly as possible.
LE FIGARO. - The establishment of State Guaranteed Loans (PGE) for large groups was done with difficulty, some banks refused to participate. Why?
Laurent MIGNON. -First, we had to clarify the legal environment for EMPs for large groups that need it. Then, each file is complex, with a different banking syndicate and many stakeholders. Thorough risk analysis takes time, especially since other potential interventions must be considered, such as a capital increase. With our subsidiary Natixis, we aim to support the major French groups that are our customers, in particular with EMPs.
