The Air France pilots' union (Spaf) warned the airline management on Saturday of its plans to restructure short-haul activity.

" The Spaf will ensure the consistency of the choices made in the current context and will oppose any dismemberment or transfer of the Air France airline network ", warned in a leaflet the powerful organization, referring to the possibility of positioning the low-cost subsidiary Transavia on the domestic network in place of the Auir France pavilion.
The pilots are also moved by the possible abandonment of cities like Lyon or Bordeaux because they can be served in less than 2.5 hours by TGV.
Air France obtained aid from the State at the end of April for seven billion euros to cope with the virtual paralysis of world air traffic caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
In addition to this aid, the company intends to finalize in the coming months a transformation plan which will notably involve a review of Air France's activities as well as a voluntary departure plan.

French Minister of Economy Bruno Le Maire had explained that the aid given to the company did not constitute " a blank check " and that it was accompanied by conditions, in particular that Air France " make an effort to be more profitable ”.
