Every day, Le Parisien mobilizes to answer your questions around the coronavirus. Today we are interested in the questioning of one of our readers, who wants to know if families are separated during a train trip to respect social distancing.
Since May 11, and until further notice, only one seat in two has been occupied on trains. A measure decided to stop the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic.
There is one exception to this rule: families. "Parents or grandparents accompanied by their children or grandchildren are allowed to travel side by side," a spokesperson for the SNCF told us on Tuesday.
Pay attention to the certificate
Couples, married or not, are also allowed to travel next to each other. To travel together, however, you do not need to provide proof of address or a family book. "These documents will not be required," we were confirmed.
However, if you travel more than 100 km from your home, it is advisable to bring a special travel certificate and supporting documents.
Our reader is now invited to follow the announcements by Prime Minister Édouard Philippe, who unveils this Thursday at 5 p.m. the outlines of the second phase of deconfinement, scheduled for June 2, with new traffic rules.
