The initiative started thanks to Élodie and Thierry Ramond. Madame is medical secretary for the hospitals of Gien and Sully-sur-Loire (Loiret). Monsieur works as internal logistics manager at Essity which produces toilet paper and handkerchiefs (Lotus, Moltonel).
“I knew that the factory where my husband works was running non-stop and that she had stocks. While our caregivers lacked disposable wipes and handkerchiefs. During this period, we are all looking for solutions, ”says Élodie Ramond.
The first pallet distributed in March
On the Essity side, a crisis unit was set up at the end of February. "A pole dedicated to external initiatives has handled the many requests," says Jean-Paul Ferreira Martins, in charge of quality and hygiene and responsible for this pole. The factory with 500 employees therefore supplied a first pallet in March. "She was welcome. We consume more paper towels and disinfectant, ”recognizes Myriam Laghouag, care coordinator at Sully-sur-Loire, which welcomes 207 residents in nursing homes and 25 hospital beds. An establishment that has recorded only one Covid-19 death. A shared spirit of mutual aid: the Dampierre nuclear power station provided smocks, the town hall of Sully donated masks, the Pierre Fabre factory in Gien offered moisturizer to repair hands attacked by alcohol…
For its part, the Essity factory in Gien, will have repaired some forty health establishments and medical offices during the health crisis, in Loiret, Yonne, Cher, and as far as Corrèze.
