Ile-de-France Mobilités considers the RATP bill too high

2020-06-18T20:48:32.340Z

LE FIGARO INFO - The organization chaired by Valérie Pécresse believes that the contract binding it to the operator of the Paris metro must be revised because of the health crisis.

RATP has made its accounts. She estimates that, this year, the health crisis will have a negative impact of 450 million euros on its turnover and 330 million on its net result.

But, so that the note does not go beyond, Ile-de-France Mobilités would have to respect a clause in the contract binding the two parties. That this body, chaired by Valérie Pécresse, take responsibility for 90% of the economic underperformance of the metro and Paris bus operator caused by the epidemic. A device planned in case of serious commercial slippage.

After all, argues the RATP, Ile-de-France Mobilités has benefited from this rule which also provides that the latter collects 90% of the earnings in the event of outperformance. Last year, which was a good year, RATP donated more than 83 million euros to Ile-de-France Mobilités. But this organization, which is threatened with default, does not listen to this ear.

“The clause in the contract to which the RATP alludes is obsolete, we believe in the entourage of Valérie Pécresse. The article which must apply is article 111 which provides for a revision of the contract when its economy is upset. This is the case with the health crisis. ”

Mail sent in early June

Moreover, according to our information, Ile-de-France Mobilités sent a letter in early June to the RATP to make its case. "The contract is not a self service where the RATP uses what suits it," we hammer the nail in the entourage of Valérie Pécresse.

Ile-de-France Mobilités also notes that it paid ruby on the nail its contribution to the RATP in March, April and May when the service was not up to the minimums imposed by the contract. And plant one last banner. "We expect the RATP to make productivity gains for the cost of transport even though it is in a monopoly situation until 2039 without any risk," we continue in the entourage of Valérie Pécresse. There are margins. ”

So far, discussions between the two sides have not started. But, we understood, they risk being muscular. Because each of the two parties will defend their point of view in order to assume as little as possible the financial consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic which has brought down attendance and revenues in metros, buses and trams in Paris.
