ACSAD Director for SANA: Activating cooperation with Syria and developing the organization's work

The Director General of the Arab Center organization, ACSAD Dr. Nasr El-Din Al-Obaid, stressed the intention to activate cooperation with Syria in the field of agriculture and agricultural research, noting the great support that Syria provides to the organization in securing the infrastructure and lands for the applied scientific research stations and experts.

In a statement to SANA, Dr. Al-Obaid indicated during his assumption of the duties of the "ACSAD" administration that he would seek to develop the organization's work and open new horizons for it, noting that despite the difficult conditions that the Arab region is going through, the organization was able to implement its plans and programs and develop its infrastructure and research stations.

He pointed to the important achievement of the center, which is the establishment of an advanced laboratory in the field of biotechnology research, because of its extreme importance in the rapid development of drought-resistant varieties of wheat, barley and fruit trees.

Al-Ubaid praised the applied scientific results reached by "ACSAD", especially in the fields of feed research, pastures, water resources, palms, livestock and land uses, stressing their extreme importance to all Arab countries, especially that they are implemented in arid and semi-arid environments.

Al-Obaid explained that the organization focuses on the important researches of the Arab countries, especially raising the efficiency of irrigation therein, reducing waste in irrigation water, implementing important research in the areas of combating desertification, preserving pastures, and improving its reality to secure a fodder source for livestock, especially for sheep, goats and camels.

It is noteworthy that the "ACSAD" Center was established in 1968 in Damascus, which is a specialized Arab organization working within the framework of the League of Arab States with the aim of uniting national efforts to develop agricultural scientific research in arid and semi-arid regions and the exchange of information and experiences in a way that can benefit from the fruits of scientific progress and the transfer, development and settlement of technologies Modern agriculture in order to increase agricultural production in these areas.
