Several thousand Airbus employees demonstrated on Wednesday inside the group, against the plan to cut jobs announced by the aircraft manufacturer, which threatens 5,000 jobs in France, including more than 3,500 in Toulouse.

At the call of the three main unions, FO, CFE-CGC and CFTC, several thousand Airbus employees, massed behind a banner proclaiming " No to layoffs " cross the airport runways to gain the seat of the aircraft manufacturer , where a delegation must be received by members of management.

This action, which should cause reprogramming of " three or four flights " was organized in concert with the prefecture to minimize the disruption of air traffic, Florent Veletchy, central union representative at Airbus of the CFTC, told AFP. aircraft manufacturer union.

" We want to send a strong message but not declare war ", while negotiations have opened between management and the unions, for whom the red line is " zero redundancies ," an option which has not been ruled out by group management.

The union trio is counting on early, voluntary departures, long-term partial activity and training facilities, to reduce the scope of the plan, which is expected to come into force by summer 2021.

According to Florent Veletchy, " we can go further " than the figure of 1,500 jobs that could be saved in France if the state contributes to it, figure advanced last week in an interview with the German weekly Der Spiegel by the boss of Airbus Guillaume Faury.

The last major mobilization of Airbus employees in Toulouse, where the group and its subsidiaries employ 25,000 employees, dates back to 2010, when a rotating strike was launched after the announcement of participation bonuses deemed derisory and ultimately reassessed.

Demonstrations must also be organized in Saint-Nazaire and Nantes, two other sites of the group hit hard, with more than a thousand jobs threatened by the cutting plan which also concerns the Stelia Aerospace subsidiary of Airbus.
