Housing tax: the abolition in 2023 for the richest 20% finally "maintained"

Emmanuel Macron had mentioned on July 14 a possible postponement due to the economic crisis linked to the Covid-19.

Prime Minister Jean Castex said Friday that, for the time being, the timetable for the abolition of the housing tax for the richest 20%, planned for 2023, was "maintained".

"We will continue at the same pace," he argued on France 2, that is to say by 2023, while Emmanuel Macron had mentioned on July 14 a possible postponement.

"Possible option"

The head of state explained that "shifting a little, for the wealthy among us" was a "possible option" and that the postponement could "be something legitimate in times of crisis. "

Postponing more than one would be complicated, for legal reasons in particular. Beyond that, the Constitutional Council would risk vetoing this lack of equity.
