A fire broke out at the end of the afternoon and is still in progress at the Air Liquide plant in Douais in the Frais-Marais district, according to information from the Voix du Nord . This is a Seveso high threshold classified site.

Videos show thick black smoke escaping from the site and several explosions were heard, according to the local daily, which specifies that the fire was caused by the explosion of a gas cylinder.
There would be no injuries to deplore according to France 3. The mayor of Douais, Frédéric Chéreau, however called, on Facebook, the inhabitants "not to leave their homes until further notice and to wait for new instructions" .
The site, built in 1964, is "specialized in the conditioning of hydrogen and the production of nitrous oxide ".
