The Les Mousquetaires group, whose flagship brand is Intermarché, has announced that it wants to take a majority stake in the capital of the online sales site BricoPrivé.
" The group's objective is to accelerate its transformation (...), strengthening its presence in rapidly growing markets due to the rise of digital technology ", he explains in a press release. “ For BricoPrivé, backing up to a major home equipment operator will strengthen its model and accelerate its development, ” the statement continued.
The group is already present in the DIY sector with its brands Bricomarché, Brico Cash and Bricorama.
It specifies that the proposed merger will first be subject to consultation with employee representatives and to the authorization of the Competition Authority.
Founded in 2012, bricoprive.com is a " private sales site dedicated to DIY, gardening and home improvement ", which claims to have 10 million members. It also offers an offer for professionals via the racetools.fr platform.
BricoPrivé, which operates in France, Italy, Spain and Portugal, claims " more than 170 million euros in business volume over the last twelve months and the hiring of 160 employees ", details the press release. "Positioning ourselves on a new distribution channel, where most of the market's growth is now taking place, means strengthening skills to become, even more, a player in omnichannel commerce" (with permanent stores such as online), commented Thierry Coulomb, president of the Bricorama, Brico Cash and Bricomarché brands.
