SNCF wants to get the French back on the train. For this, it has put in place an offer, until September 7, to benefit from reduction cards at half price. Thus, for 25 euros this year instead of 49 euros in normal times, the Youth cards (12-27 years old), Week-end cards (27-60 years old, for a return trip including a Saturday or a Sunday), cards Family (reduction for accompanying children) and Senior cards (over 60), have been on sale since yesterday, Monday August 17th.

All these cards allow you to benefit from a 30% reduction on all train tickets during the coming year. Today, they are owned by more than 3 million travelers.
To restart its activity, the SNCF has been increasing its commercial offers and good deals in recent weeks. Until August 31, the exchange or cancellation of a ticket is free of charge for everyone. Discount cards that were to expire between 03/17 and 07/31 are extended for one month, to 08/31. In addition, the TGV Max offer (79 euros per month to be able to reserve tickets for free) is currently offered at 1 euro for the first month, with the sole constraint of subscribing for a minimum of three months.

So many offers that answer one thing: in 2020, SNCF's turnover is expected to drop by around 4 billion euros, attacked by the coronavirus crisis. This summer, SNCF estimated that its train ridership was down 15% compared to last year. A figure that the company puts into perspective very well, as it is higher than the forecasts made in May, in particular.
