2020-08-26T22:22:23.779Z

Wirecard has evidently cheated, delivery hero has never made any money. This raises the question of how serious the composition of the most important German stock index is and whether stricter rules are needed.

New in the stock market Olympics: Delivery Hero will be listed in the Dax under the abbreviation DHER

The German share index has been looking different since this week: The insolvent payment service provider Wirecard was thrown out of the Dax, but Delivery Hero moved up to the German stock market Olympics. The food delivery service fulfills the two admission criteria of Deutsche Börse: its market value and share trading turnover are large enough to be admitted to the circle of the 30 most important corporations in the country.

Wirecard's departure was inevitable after the massive balance sheet scandal, but resistance is rising against the newcomer: Delivery Hero's business model is too young and low-income, the business of referring customers to restaurants and delivery services is not serious enough. In short: Deutsche Börse will have to use other criteria for inclusion in the Dax in the future so that a disaster like the one with Wirecard does not recur.

But would such a reform really make sense? What speaks for and what against new rules? A pros and cons:
