The price of gold retreated from its highest level in about two weeks today with the rise of the dollar, but hopes for a soft monetary policy from the US Federal Reserve limited the metal's losses.
The price of gold fell 0.3 percent to 1,950.92 dollars an ounce, after rising earlier to its peak since the second of September at 1971.71 dollars.
And US gold futures fell 0.2 percent to $ 1959.20.
In other precious metals, platinum rose 0.3 percent to 956.38 dollars an ounce.
Silver settled at $ 27.15 an ounce, and palladium rose 1.5 percent to $ 2349.03.
