The company Alitalia is launching daily “
Covid-free
”
flights
between Rome and Milan
from this Wednesday
, which will only carry passengers who have tested negative for Covid-19.
Passengers will either need to perform an antigenic nasal swab test prior to boarding or present a test certificate completed within 72 hours of flight.

Two flights, connecting Rome Fiumicino airport to Linate airport in Milan, are affected: one leaving at 1:30 p.m. every day of the week and the other at 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Depending on the results obtained, this proposal could be subsequently extended to other flights, in particular to international and intercontinental flights to and from countries whose epidemiological situation is the subject of greater attention
", specified Alitalia in a press release.
The objective is to "
launch a route for a resumption of traffic, in particular on the most important flows for the country, and more generally to strengthen the confidence of travelers in the plane
".
According to Alitalia, the airplane remains "
the safest means of transport thanks to all the protocols and solutions adopted by the aeronautical sector (...) such as the HEPA filters on board which allow a complete change of air in cabin every 2 to 3 minutes
”, the modulation of spaces to ensure social distancing, the presence of hydroalcoholic gel dispensers and thermo-scanners.
In Fiumicino, the test can be carried out in a “
drive-in
” operational since August 31 in a parking lot.
The structure, open seven days a week with a wide schedule, can accommodate up to 130 cars.
Passengers can also take the test in a dedicated area at Arrivals Terminal 3.
This area, in service since August 16, can accommodate up to 480 passengers at the same time.
The tests are free and guarantee a result in less than 30 minutes.

In the event of a negative result, the passenger will be authorized to board.
If it is positive, it will have to follow the protocols of the health authorities, that is to say a placement in quarantine.
It is also possible to present a certificate of negative result of molecular (PCR test) or antigenic test carried out in the previous 72 hours.
On the other hand, passengers will not be allowed on board only with a serological test certificate.
