Sweida-Sana
The Directorate of Agriculture in Sweida estimated the governorate’s total production of eggplant for the current season at about 1306 tons.
In a statement to SANA's correspondent, the Director of Agriculture, Eng. Ayham Hamed, said that the estimated production is good compared to the cultivated areas, pointing to the directorate's encouragement for farmers to grow eggplant within the approved plans and in the places where wells are distributed.
The Director of Agriculture indicated that the areas planted with eggplant in the governorate for the current season, which amounted to 320 dunums, are all irrigated and depend on watering from well water.
As-Suwayda governorate produced 1,482 tons of eggplant last season.
