Many small and medium-sized companies breathe a sigh of relief: The federal government is improving its Corona aid package and is now granting bridging aid until the end of the year.
Depending on the level of their fixed costs, companies can receive up to 200,000 euros in funding for the months from September to December, said the Ministry of Economics, Finance and the Interior.
From June to August this amount was 150,000 euros, when the companies were able to demonstrate significant sales losses.
There should be higher funding rates for companies that are still practically completely idle, such as the organizers or showmen industries.
"We are just not leaving the companies that are still closed due to official orders or hygiene and distance rules or can only drive at half speed," said Economics Minister Peter Altmaier (CDU).
Specifically, those companies can now apply for bridging aid that had a drop in sales of at least 50 percent in two consecutive months in the period from April to August 2020 compared to the respective months of the previous year - or a drop in sales of at least 30 percent on average in the months of April to August.
The federal government had budgeted 25 billion euros for the subsidies.
Finance Minister Olaf Scholz (SPD) takes on new debts for this.
This is also expected for the federal budget in 2021.
