The giant plane "Germany" is in the Spanish semi-desert, together with six other Lufthansa Airbus A380s.

On the area of an airport that does not handle passengers.

Three and a half months ago Lufthansa parked the double-decker superjets here: in the wilderness near the provincial town of Teruel.

And it is questionable whether the seven A380s will ever leave this place.

The planes should only be "parked": "in the meantime", as Lufthansa announced in the spring when it was transferring the planes to Teruel.

But today everything boils down to the fact that Germany's former flagship airline will never again use its former flagship aircraft in passenger operations.

Neither the seven in Teruel nor the seven other A380s that have been standing around in Frankfurt am Main for months.

At the beginning of next week, the Lufthansa supervisory board should decide on the end of the company's A380.

According to SPIEGEL information in the group, the committee will very likely decide to decommission.

Lufthansa boss Carsten Spohr had already decided to end six of the 14 planes in March.

But the other eight A380s, including the "Deutschland", should continue to take to the skies.
