In contrast to the food chains that are enjoying a tremendous increase in their activity thanks to the effects of the corona crisis, the pharma chains are somewhat lagging behind.
"Globes" has learned that the two largest pharma chains in Israel are reducing their business activity during the period of the second Corona closure, and are closing stores in locations where revenues are affected due to the traffic restrictions imposed by the government.
Thus, the largest pharm chain in Israel, Super-Pharm, closed 14 of its stores during the closure period, while at the same time, the second largest player - Be, which is owned by Shufersal - reduced the stores it currently operates, closing three stores.
In fact, in contrast to food retailers, which are enjoying an increase in sales in the shadow of the Corona crisis and against the background of closure, the revenue of the pharma chains has actually been hurt, especially income from categories such as perfume and makeup.

For Super Pharm, which operates a total of 258 branches, this is a closure of 5% of its stores for the period of closure, when it comes to an increase compared to only nine branches that closed in the previous closure, this time closing stores on malls on main streets.
Also, the branches that are closing are now continuing to operate for the purpose of collecting goods for sale online.
The stores that have closed in the Super-Pharm chain are in the Azrieli Mall in Tel Aviv (while the Shufersal branch in the mall continues to operate), the TLV mall in Tel Aviv, the Allenby branch in Tel Aviv (located on the street), the promenade branch in Eilat, Sinmol Haifa, Jerusalem Central Station, Arena Herzliya, Mamilla Jerusalem, Big Fashion Nazareth, the Grand Mall in Petah Tikva, the Sha'ar HaTzafon Mall in Kiryat Ata, the Arena Nahariya Mall, Yishparo in Beer Sheva, and Emek Hefer.
In contrast, the Be chain currently closes almost 4% of the 81 branches it operates in the Azrieli Modiin Mall, the Azrieli Mall in Acre and the Ofer Rehovot Mall.
In the first closure, Be stopped operations at another branch, on the promenade in Eilat, which is close to the branch that now closed Super-Pharm.
This led at the time to a fierce struggle between Shufersal and the owner of the property - Melisron and to a prolonged closure of several months.
This, while the nearby branch of Super-Pharm on the promenade continued to operate, when finally the two reached agreements and the branch reopened only in July.
This is a location that is significantly affected by the tourist traffic in the city, this time, the competitor Super-Pharm has closed its store on the Eilat promenade, and in the meantime Be will enjoy exclusive motherhood and as long as there is customer traffic in the complex.
