During the first three months of their reopening (June, July and August), the restaurants only regained 70% of their activity, compared to last year.

At the same time, click & collect soared by 30% (in number of visits), delivery by 34% and drive by 40%.

“The health crisis is a revealer of trends,

insists the expert.

Some people have tested delivery during lockdown and changed their ways.

They go out less. ”

More and more restaurants are therefore converting to the formula.

Including the more traditional with table service, which seek to adapt their dishes to bicycle transport.

Despite these first steps in delivery, these restaurants are suffering much more (- 45% in visits and value since January) than fast food (- 25%).

Telecommuting always undermines lunch

Overall, the sector is far from having returned to its levels of last year: teleworking is still undermining lunch;

those "over 55" hesitate to go out.

From January to August, restaurant sales plummeted by more than a third, according to NPD.

The closure of restaurants imposed in Marseille and Aix-en-Provence has killed hopes of recovery.

Even with state aid (PGE, partial unemployment, exemptions from charges, etc.), the most vulnerable are doomed.
