The “additional costs” generated by the Covid-19 crisis for retirement homes and home help services, in terms of masks and human reinforcements, will continue to be covered by “national solidarity”, promised Monday the Minister Delegate in charge of autonomy, Brigitte Bourguignon.
"I solemnly pledge today that (these additional costs) will be fully covered by national solidarity, again for the months to come", underlined Brigitte Bourguignon, who was speaking before the National Congress on Ages and Aging .
The sector had "legitimate concerns" on this point, recognized Brigitte Bourguignon, while the coverage of masks by health insurance was initially due to end on September 30, that is to say Wednesday.
"This is excellent news," responded Florence Arnaiz-Maumé, the general delegate of Synerpa, the main union of private establishments.
In the absence of such support, retirement homes would have had to spend an average of nearly 9 euros per week and per bed to provide themselves with masks, had calculated the trade union, which considered "difficult to imagine for the residents" that this amount is reflected in the accommodation rate charged to families.
