Mobilization at the hospital: a doctor unites 155,000 angry caregivers on Facebook

Health workers are called on strike on October 15. Sign of the mobilization, the new collective "Health in danger", launched it

After the yellow vests, the white vests?

The government may have put on the table of the Ségur de la Santé agreements signed in July a check for 27 billion euros to invest in the hospital and upgrade careers, the fire is still smoldering.

Since the start of the school year, the dispute has resumed at the hospital, among city caregivers, nursing homes ... an inter-union and several groups even call for a national strike on October 15 for "immediate massive hiring" and a "significant increase in wages " to the hospital.

A social relapse to which Emmanuel Macron, visiting this Tuesday near the Rothschild hospital in Paris, was confronted.

Several caregivers called out to him, shouting: “No more money for the public hospital”.

"180 euros, it does not pass, launched a stretcher bearer, it does not pass" in reference to the general increase in wages registered in the Ségur de la Santé.

The anger of caregivers is also swelling on social networks.

"I was in rage"

The most spectacular illustration, the mobilization around an anesthesiologist practicing in Hénin-Beaumont (Pas-de-Calais), Arnaud Chiche.

“It all started with a post on my Facebook page,” says this 44-year-old practitioner, father of three children.

It was the day after Ségur, I was in rage: how could we do so little for staff who give so much?

183 euros increase, in two installments, for nurses who deserve 300, and nothing for midwives!

"

Eight weeks later, this employee of a non-profit clinic, which provides on-call duty at the public hospital, has only one idea: "Organize a citizens' convention on health, outside the authorities, with all the players in the field.

And if in the end, we have to put 70 billion euros on the table, let's put them!

"

And his voice begins to carry.

It must be said that his rant has gone viral.

The day after his post, 10,000 Internet users had shared it.

In four days, 40,000 members thanked him and spoke about their daily lives.

Hundreds of photos, videos illustrating the dilapidated state of some establishments accumulate under the hashtag #hopitalarefaire: a double ceiling littering the floor of a hallway, disgusting toilets, a service flooded by a huge ceiling leak ...

An "apolitical and non-union" collective

The testimonies turn, the Facebook page is taken by storm.

After eight weeks, it had 155,000 members!

“With six colleagues, I created the Santé en danger, apolitical and non-union health collective on July 27 and it never stopped.

In two months, branches were created in each department.

The online petition calling for a second Ségur has already brought together 30,000 signatories: doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, administrative staff, ambulance workers, technicians, town doctors, elected officials ... Arnaud Chiche, he wants to go further, "to bring together all the collectives and coordination of malcontents ”and“ hit hard ”.

Dr Anne Gervais, treasurer of the Interhospital Collective (CIH), is one of those he approached.

“Our operating methods are different and a catalog of categorical demands does not constitute a health policy,” she says.

But fight side by side, why not.

"

"We should hire 20,000 nurses"

Especially since this Tuesday, the CIH launched a real cry of alarm: "The public hospital can not, given the drastic savings imposed for fifteen years, meet the needs, insists Anne Gervais.

It is not just a lack of reception structures, closed beds… The Ségur has not made it possible to increase the workforce.

We would have to hire 20,000 nurses, reopen 20 to 30,000 beds.

The Social Security financing bill for 2021 is far from Ségur's promises!

We will still have to find a billion savings, ”annoys the doctor.

Anger shared by Arnaud Chiche.

A triathlete, he never stops wetting the blouse, constantly crossing France, going to Marseille last Friday to meet Professor Didier Raoult, "out of curiosity", he said.

The resuscitator also struck at the top of the state: Olivier Véran, Jean Castex, Emmanuel Macron… In vain.

“No big deal,” he said.

We organize ourselves, because there is no question of continuing like this: the second wave is coming and there are fewer of us.

At the Lens hospital, six nurses have left since the deconfinement!

A "leak" also noted by Anne Gervais within the North Group of Public Assistance hospitals in Paris: "We have hired 192 nurses since the deconfinement, but 192 have resigned.

They didn't want to relive the spring situation… ”
