Oil prices closed more than 3 percent higher today, supported by expected supply disruptions due to a hurricane approaching the Gulf of Mexico and a strike by oil workers in Norway.
Reuters reported that Brent crude futures rose $ 1.36, equivalent to 3.29 percent, to set the settlement price at $ 42.65 a barrel, and US West Texas Intermediate crude closed up $ 1.45, or 3.7 percent, at $ 40.67.
However, Brent fell to $ 42.19 after closing, while US crude fell to $ 40.13 a barrel.
