Deutsche Bahn (DB) has to put up with declines in its discount cards as a result of the corona virus.
The total number of Bahncard customers has shrunk by five percent this year.
Ten percent of the Bahncard 100 customers, who, according to the Bahn, include "many commuters who are now in the home office," had canceled their season tickets for the entire DB network in the past.
According to Bahn, around five million people have a Bahncard.
In October, the railway lured with dumping offers for the Bahncard 25. For December, the group has announced a price increase for the Bahncard 100 - it will then be 1.9 percent more expensive.
The BahnCard 100 then costs 6685 euros in the first class and 3952 euros in the second.
From December 13th, Deutsche Bahn intends to increase long-distance ticket prices by an average of one percent.
At the beginning of the year, however, prices had dropped by ten percent.
The reason at that time was a reduction in VAT.
At the same time as the price increases, Deutsche Bahn intends to increase the number of seats and comfort on the Intercity and ICE trains.
