The Ministry of Transport announced the end of maintenance work for the railway line “Aleppo-Hama-Homs-Damascus” and the continuation of experimental operations for it in preparation for laying down the entire line with investment and service in the coming period.

In a statement, SANA received a copy of it today, the ministry noted the efforts of the national cadres in the Syrian Railways and the workers of the General Company for Railways Construction, who have been through their efforts two days ago and until now, the works of testing the line, evaluating the work and correcting any problem that may appear in addition to ending the rehabilitation, maintenance and extension works within a distance of 46 Kilometers were loosened and completely disassembled.

The ministry pointed out that machines were used for smoothing, stuffing and lifting the ballast-crushed stones around the track, the gravel prism machine, and the line defect detection mechanism to ensure curves, levels, deviations, or lack of grouting, all of which were maintained by the efforts of technicians and maintenance efforts.

The ministry indicated that five groups of "train set" trains with a capacity of 283 passengers for each group have been equipped, and speeds are currently being tested in addition to freight freight trains, especially those designed to transport grain across the 400 km "Aleppo-Damascus" axis and linking with the "Lattakia-Tartous" axis for the same the purpose.

It is noteworthy that, since 2011, the railways in Syria have been subjected to systematic acts of sabotage as a result of terrorism, which led to the railway system being out of service.
