The Cuban convertible peso disappears on January 1 in favor of the sole Cuban peso (CUP).
To put an end to this dual currency system and complete this historic monetary reform, the authorities are multiplying wages by five and prices by seven!
The Official Journal lists the 32 new salary scales of the Castro Island.
First in line, the comrades governors.
The one in Havana will earn 9,010 CUP (280 euros) per month.
At the bottom of the scale, the Cuban minimum wage will be satisfied with 2,100 CUP (65 euros), hardly better than a retiree, whose future pension will not exceed 1733 pesos (54 euros).
The Official Journal details each profession to the nearest comma on 77 pages.
In Cuba, it is better to be an acrobat with 155 euros per month, than a vice-consul, with 112 euros.
At the heart of this astonishing luxury of bureaucratic details, the reader discovers that the presenter of the 8 o'clock newspaper of Cubavision, the irremovable Rafael Serrano receives 5,800 CUP (180 euros) per month.
And the artists, whose demonstrations of discontent have marked the capital in recent weeks?
Honor to classical musicians.
Their salaries will equal those of a news anchor, twice as much as a DJ at a salsa club.

For 6.8 pesos per hour (20 cents), they will only show their "
face or feet
".
Those posing naked will receive double.

The winning baseball series will receive 2,018 euros to share among nine players… a far cry from the millions of dollars of American teams.
