The Buenos Aires Chief of Staff Felipe Miguel tried to explain this Saturday why the tax on car patents is arriving with increases of up to 100%.

Perhaps due to the lack of transparency in the increases, it was difficult for the official to clarify the reasons for the jump in the ballots received by thousands of taxpayers from the City of Buenos Aires.

"The increase that occurs in patents is due to the value in nominal pesos of the vehicles," he explained in dialogue with the program Sábado Tempranísimo, on radio

Miter

.

And he assured that the government of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta did not change any of the scales or the aliquots.

"The tax was not modified," he said.

However, annual inflation was 36.1% in 2020 according to INDEC and cars rose an average of 47%, according to data from Acara, the dealership chamber.

Miguel said that "even to avoid a negative impact on the neighbors, because the higher the value of the vehicles, the higher the rate and with the increase in the nominal value it was possible to jump from one scale to another, and the same vehicle could pay more What was done is to

run those scales

so that this impact would not occur ".

The tax rate is 3.2% per year for vehicles valued at up to $ 1.6 million, 4% for vehicles up to $ 2.2 million, 4.5% for vehicles up to $ 3.2 million, and 5% for those who exceed that last ceiling.

The scales were raised 70%, they had indicated this week from the Buenos Aires government, but the question is about what values of cars they take to apply those aliquots.

Miguel acknowledged this Saturday that "there may be an increase because it has to do with

the nominal increase in pesos, which is inflation at the end

."

What ultimately determines the increase in the patent is the new value of the vehicle.

But from the Chamber of Automotive Commerce they threw the ball to the Government.

They said that “the valuations are distorted in favor of the collection, they are not made on real values.

It is a common practice that we could never disarm ”, according to Alberto Príncipe, president of the entity.

The leader had observed that “vehicles did not increase so much in relation to the dollar, even when 80% of the inputs of domestic cars are imported.

The increase was not significant, but the increase in the tax value was

”.

In the AGIP they had indicated that “for 2021 the values assigned by the National Directorate of the Automotive Property Registry as of October 1, 2020 were taken. Only that of the Association of Automotive Dealers of the Argentine Republic (ACARA) is used or another entity when a model is missing from the DNRPA base ”.

To those who pay before the first maturity, a 10% discount will be applied on each of the bimonthly installments this year.

They will also be given a 50% discount on the last Patent fee if they joined the automatic debit.

There are also benefits if it is paid annually instead of every two months, an option that not all taxpayers adopt, even if they can, because the sum is important and the discount is not that great.
