Power generators issued a statement complaining about the price freeze.
On Tuesday, it had been the electricity distributors (Edesur, Edenor, Edelap) who had warned about it.
"We see with deep concern a situation that, if maintained,
will affect the normal
electricity
supply
of the country," said the Association of Electric Power Generators (AGEERA).
Enel, Pampa and Central Puerto
are among the main players in this business.
In the sector, it circulates that the Government was studying an even greater reduction than what it was paying, which would further complicate the accounts.
"Currently, about 60% of the energy generated is being remunerated with frozen values since February 2020 provided for by Resolution of the Ministry of Energy (...) Said Resolution made a
strong reduction in remuneration
and pesified the values received by those mentioned generators, which has had a considerable impact on the income of these companies (between 25 and 45% depending on the type of generation), "they complained.
According to the generators, the Energy decision generated
a reduction in income of $ 26,000 million
.
"It should be noted that the amount that represents the remuneration received by the aforementioned generators for the energy generated framed in Resolution SE 31/2020, is
only 4.5% of the total cost of the rate
that, for the supply of electrical energy end consumers pay, "they clarified.
Generators face dollar costs associated with maintaining technologies.
They say that it is "impossible" for them to face them with the current remuneration.
"Given the sustainability of the current situation,
it is not possible to cover the operation
and maintenance costs that many of these generation units require and therefore
the normal operation of a large part of the generation park will be compromised in the short term
(. ..) ", they marked.
On Tuesday, electricity distributors (Adeera) said they are in "a state of concern over the extension of the rate freeze recently established in some very important areas of the country."
One of the consequences of the tariff delay is that consumers demand more energy, because they perceive it cheap.
This is more noticeable in the high income and social tariff segments, which have free consumption blocks.
This measure maintains "the vague situation that directly affects the electricity service," they indicated in Adeera, adding: "The production and distribution of energy has a cost and is not 'free' or 'cheap' as some consider.
"It is essential that, as a matter of urgency, the remuneration values are recomposed and measures are taken that allow economic-financial predictability to meet the commitments with our value chain in the current macro scenario, given that their postponement in time will
end impacting irreversibly
on the availability of our generating units ", stated the generators.
The freeze "maintains the situation of indefiniteness that directly affects the electricity service. Furthermore, this freeze occurs in a context with
a cumulative inflation of 80%
, for which the electricity service is not responsible but which does have a direct impact on the increases in the costs of the provision, "they had expressed on Tuesday in Adeera.
