"But you want to make a career" - this warning is still used as an argument to gloss over unpleasant tasks, to argue against a gut feeling or to demand seriousness.

Expressed by bosses, former classmates, emancipated friends, father, mother, colleagues.

The term »career« is usually attached to the classic promotion parameters such as income, a place high in the hierarchy or the largest possible team - and all of this with an employer that is as renowned as possible. 

The reality check came with Corona at the latest: Initially, many well-established processes and office routines were destroyed overnight.

Work penetrated the private sphere like rarely.

Some have accumulated mountains of overtime - and others have been condemned to do nothing.

Many have noticed: We don't want to continue working as we have before - and maybe we don't have to.

Rather, we should ask ourselves what is important to us in life - and what role our profession plays in this.
