Volkswagen is expecting an operating profit of around ten billion euros for the past year - despite significantly fewer vehicles sold in the corona crisis.
The group announced that this profit level could be assumed on the basis of preliminary figures.
Volkswagen is expected to announce further details in mid-March at the annual press conference.
In 2019, the corresponding profit was almost twice as high at 19.3 billion euros.
The ten billion euros plus for 2020 relate to the operating result before special items - i.e. above all additional legal and penalty costs as a result of the diesel emissions affair.
The group did not provide any information on the expected net profit.
Here, too, the automaker recently calculated that it would still be able to close in positive territory in 2020.
Sales had already stabilized again in the fourth quarter.
Viewed over the entire year, however, sales fell significantly.
In 2020, Volkswagen sold 5.3 million vehicles, around 15 percent fewer than in the previous year.
