This is how Roland Besnard, CEO, sums up the state of mind of Bouyer Leroux, the French number one in the manufacture of clay bricks.
The profession is inherently very energy-intensive, even if the manufacture of hollow brick is less so than the production of concrete, and the material is more insulating.
But the cooperative group, based for nearly seventy years in La Séguinière (Maine-et-Loire), does not intend to sit idle.
It announced an investment plan of 76 million euros to

decarbonize
its seven production sites by 90%”
by 2027.
“This plan will also allow us to improve our productivity and our attractiveness and to get a head start on our competitors,”
explains Roland Besnard, 63 years old.
2023 was a record year with 540 million euros in turnover.
