More than 23,000 new contaminations were detected in France in 24 hours.
These 23,852 new cases bring the total number of Covid-19 cases to 2,830,442 and mark a drop from the 25,379 positive tests recorded last week.
The country has deplored 232 deaths since the day before in hospital, bringing the total to 48,028 deaths from the coronavirus.
For the second day in a row, the positivity rate remained at 6.5%.

Hospitals received 8,950 new patients with Covid-19, including 1,324 in intensive care over the last seven days according to official figures published by Public Health France on Wednesday, January 13.
Vaccination speeds up
To date, 247,000 people have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
51,483 French people have received it in the last 24 hours according to the VaccinTracker site.
The government wants to reach 400,000 vaccinations by the end of the week.
The spread of the English variant continues to be of concern in France.
The director of the regional health agency (ARS) of Île-de-France, Aurélien Rousseau, affirmed that “new measures” are necessary to contain the epidemic of Covid-19.
