Like old home devices, idea of anti-smatphone engineer (ANSA)

A telephone with a rotating disk to dial the number, similar to that which home telephones mounted years ago, to combat distractions from notification. It's called Rotary Cellphone, and is the original and vintage project of the engineer Justine Haupt who in an interview with Wired explicitly declared to be "anti-smartphone".

"In a hyper-connected world with people who use telephones that they don't control and don't understand, I wanted something that was entirely mine, personal and absolutely tactile, that would also give me an excuse for not sending messages - Haupt writes on his project website -. But also to demonstrate that it is possible to have a perfectly usable phone that goes far beyond the touchscreen ".

The device, in addition to the rotating disk for dialing numbers, has an electronic ink screen that shows any missed calls. To govern the operation there is an Arduino board. On the side there is also a small LED indicator that indicates the signal situation.

All the physical pieces come from an old Western Electric Timeline phone, while the body was obtained thanks to a 3D printer. On the official website, Justine Haupte shared all the steps of the project in case some user was interested in building one at home.
