Due to the Corona crisis and the need to extricate Israelis from abroad, the possibility of taking a direct flight to the remote continent is being considered for the first time.

First publication: EL AL is exploring the first flight in the company's history to Australia. According to the flight schedule, the flight is scheduled to depart for the city of Perth tomorrow and aims to rescue Israelis who are stuck in Australia following the spread of the Corona virus.

If the flight gets the required permits and leaves for Australia tomorrow, it will be a historic event - the company never flew to the country although, according to planning, it was soon to be part of a regular test flight to Australia, although the plan was for Sydney farther from Perth.

The company is also exploring the possibility of taking out additional rescue flights to South America and India, and here too, these are flights aimed at rescuing Israelis who are stranded around the world.

Remember, El Al rescued about 1,000 Israelis from besieged Peru last weekend. Tonight more than five hundred Israelis were rescued by the company from India and last week about 100 Israelis were rescued by the Lapland society.

Israir has also been involved in quite a few rescue flights and has so far rescued around 2,000 Israelis, mainly from Eastern European countries, including Moldova, Romania and the Czech Republic. There are currently thousands of Israelis around the world looking for solutions to reach Israel.

All flights are done in collaboration with the Foreign Ministry, which opened a special military force to assist Israelis who are stuck around the world.
