Out of 55 car models evaluated in 2019, 41 were the ones that achieved the maximum score of 5 stars during the Euro NCAP tests. The year that has just ended, therefore, was one of the best since Euro NCAP - the international project for assessing the safety standards of new cars, of which the Automobile Club d'Italia is a partner - began to evaluate the safety of motor vehicles for sale in Europe.

Mercedes-Benz CLA (Small Family Cars), Tesla Model 3 & BMW 3 Series (Large Family Cars), Subaru Forester (Small Off-Road / MPV), Tesla Model X (Large Off-Roader), Audi A1 & Renault Clio ( Supermini), Tesla Model 3 (Hybrid & Electric), are the 8 winning models - in the various categories - of the Euro NCAP 2019 tests.

In detail, the Casa della Stella has regained the crown in the small family category, with the CLA model, a sporty alternative to the class A sedan, winner of the 'Best in Class' of the year 2018. The CLA has distinguished itself for having obtained the best overall score of the year, with ratings above 90 percent in three of the four rating areas. The German company in 2019 presented five other models, all rated with the highest score, with excellent performance of Adas driver assistance technologies.

The Tesla Model 3 tops the category of 'large' family vehicles, aequo with BMW's 3 Series. The German was better in pedestrian protection, while the American, overall, for the Adas systems. The new Škoda Octavia ranks second in this category.

In the small SUV class the new Subaru Forester wins instead; second place ex aequo for Mazda CX-30 and VW T-Cross.

The Japanese also stood out with the Mazda 3 model, which achieved excellent performances in the protection of occupants 'adults', winning second place in the small family category, behind the Mercedes-Benz CLA superstar. Also in the Supermini class there is an ex aequo between the sporty Audi A1 and the Renault Clio (both in the latest version presented in 2019), for years among the most popular sedans and sold in Europe. The newcomer Ford Puma also ranks well, second in the standings. Special mention to the BMW Z4 for its excellent performance, the only roadster tested in 2019, which has set a new benchmark in this segment, as regards safety. Another note of merit for the Tesla, first and second classified in the 'electric and hybrid' category, respectively with the 3 and X models. The latter model is also the winner in the large SUV category. Second place for Seat Tarraco.
