Twenty people severely affected by the coronavirus will be taken by train to the Pays de la Loire. The goal is to relieve the

TGV operation launched. Boarding on board the medicalized TGV, which must take Alsatian patients infected with the coronavirus to hospitals in the Pays de la Loire region, began this Thursday in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin). The first ambulances arrived shortly after 6 a.m. on platform 1, supervised by caregivers in overcoats.

Around 8:30 am, the first patients, transported on stretchers, were installed on the duplex train, which arrived at the station the day before. The medical convoy should leave at 11 a.m. A second train was positioned on the platform opposite, to create a visual barrier, according to the newspaper L'Alsace.

Twenty seriously ill patients must be transferred to the hospitals of Angers, Le Mans, Nantes and La Roche-sur-Yon. They were to be installed in five cars, at the rate of four per lower room, those at the top being reserved for the circulation of materials and nursing staff, according to the Directorate General of Health (DGS).

In each car, a medical team made up of an anesthesiologist-resuscitator, an intern, a nurse anesthetist and three nurses will be present. These caregivers - around fifty with the logisticians - come from the Nantes and Angers teaching hospitals as well as from the AP-HP Paris, while the Paris Samu coordinates the maneuver.

A classic train was coupled to the medical train, in order to face possible hazards, such as a collision with game.

This rail evacuation was triggered to relieve the Great East, hard hit by the pandemic and whose hospitals are saturated. "First in Europe", according to the Minister of Health Olivier Véran, it could be brought to repeat itself.
