The book that teaches about the flowers in the country in the most fun way possible

Prof. Belha Fisher toured the flourishing Normandy, thinking of passing on her love of flowers to her grandchildren. She then wrote "Aggie and Horti's Journey to the Flowers of the Land of Israel," in which she also illustrated the flowers of our country and translated them into a storytelling that teaches little ones how big is blooming in us and when. A rash guide, a little different

Books about flowers are not a popular thing in the era of flower recognition apps, though many months a year are spotted on some shelf that raises dust, here and there maybe remembered and pulled out when you go on a trip.

But here comes the book of Belha Fisher, a professor of chemistry at the Faculty of Exact Sciences at Bar-Ilan University, who decided on a trip years ago to Normandy in France as she strides between Hortensia shrubs and flowering Agapanthus plants, to convey her great love and admiration for the next generation's wildflowers - Eretz Israel - that at that time were not yet born.

"Aggie and Horti's Travel Diary for the Flowers of Israel" (Ibn Hoshen Publishing), tells of the journey of a pair of flowers (Aggie and Horti - a nickname for flowers she saw in Fisher in Normandy - ZR) who "flew" from France to Israel to know Israel's wildflowers . The book is written as a diary, according to the months of the year, and contains spectacular drawings and handwritten notes that indicate the flower and its characteristics. The illustrations are diverse and varied - from flower carvings including Aggie and Horti to the drawing of buds spreading to the flower, the tuber, the fertilization by bees, the interaction with ants and more.

Each chapter takes place elsewhere in the country and the landscapes around it are described - from the Yeruham detention in the south (egg yolks) to the oak trees in the north (crocuses, saffron crossword). Each chapter talks about a different botanical theme such as - habitat, geophyte, flower symmetry, choice of breeding strategies and more. The above and other issues are kindly mediated by various human figures in each chapter, such as the Bedouin inspector of the Nature and Parks Authority, a Greek-Orthodox monk, skydiving paratrooper and more.

For example, in the relevant episode of the coming month, Aggie and Horti meet the red anemones at the Barry Reserve in the western Negev. "I think I'm dreaming," whispers Hortie, excited to Aggie. "Everything around us is fiery red, subdued to horizon. Could it be true?" Written on the anemones that paint the northern Negev areas in red in February.

On the blue laurels of March-April, it says: "Bella explains to them that they are going to the Lower Galilee, to the Tavor stream.

Along the way, the two also meet a number of characters, such as a Bedouin inspector of the Nature and Parks Authority, an Orthodox monk and a skydiver who enriches the hiking experience in nature.

In addition, the book is accompanied by the illustrations of flowers by Ira Fischer, as well as the flower structure, its fruits and even interesting captions next to each illustration that shows important information about the flower. The flowers are divided into a book by seasons, with the mark of one of the four seasons at the top of each chapter so that you know when the flowers bloom. At the end of the book there is also a rash calendar by months, so you can know what is blooming every month and month, and even an illustration of a map of Israel that indicates what blooms and where.

So here you have the beauty of a book, which also teaches about the wildflowers in our country and also serves as a great story for every hour for children and instills in them the love of nature and the knowledge of the land.
