After backtracking with Vicentin's intervention, the President could look for another way to enter that market.

One of the reasons that Alberto Fernández had given when he decided to intervene in Vicentin was to have a witness company in the cereal business. And, as indicated by the President this Saturday, the idea would still stand.

"We wanted to rescue a company, not the managers of a company. To rescue the managers was the previous government," said Chicanero, the President, speaking to El Destape Radio. "We wanted to rescue the company that we consider strategically important to safeguard producers and jobs and that the State can have a benchmark within that market and prevent the cereal export market from becoming even more concentrated," he added.

And he admitted that "we were not achieving this in this way. Everything indicated that we were going to end up in a company to save the potatoes for the shareholders and the directors of the company. And the last thing we want is that: all of them are questioned criminally.

" Perhaps it is a better option for YPF Agro to become an autonomous company and develop its operation as it had been doing and allow us to achieve the same objective, which is to have a benchmark State company in the cereal sector . And, for that, I don't have to make an investment in dollars to save a company and its shareholders, "he said.

According to Fernández, the government had the idea of having a benchmark in the cereal business "when the VIcentin business appeared." But he admitted that they left him: "They put all the obstacles in our way, I had to bank pots, guys honking , insults, that we are expropriators and they never let me see what was inside Vicentin."

The president insisted with the concept he had already mentioned on Friday: " I would nationalize private debts, no. Rescue a company so that it serves the Argentine State, yes . Endorse with the presence of the State the eventual embezzlement of a company, no. State money is not there to save shareholders or managers. " According to Fernández, Vicentin's assets are enough to pay only a third of the debt.

"We do not have a problem with private actors in the cereal business. We are cautious. And having a reference company allows us to see the mischief in quotes," he said.
