Bolt electric bikes take on Paris

2020-07-02T07:22:22.171Z

From this Wednesday morning, 500 free-floating bicycles operated by the VTC operator are available for hire.

Three weeks after Jump's withdrawal, here are free-floating electric bikes in Paris again. On the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, Bolt, which already offers hybrid bikes in the capital, embarked on the adventure. "We have deployed 500 bikes everywhere in the city except in the Northeast , " says Henri Capoul, general manager for France of this Estonian start-up.

A very cautious start: Jump operated up to 5,000 vehicles in the streets of the City of Lights. However, Bolt, who wants to be a small Uber with diversified services (VTC, delivery of meals, scooters) accessible in thirty countries, does not lack ambition in cycling. "We know that we can be profitable with bicycles because we are already making money with scooters in certain cities of the countries of the East" , underlines Henri Capoul.

Inevitably, this arouses a certain skepticism: the first bike sharing operators (Ofo, Mobike, Gobee ...) landed in Paris in 2017
