In addition, from 6 p.m., bars will only be able to serve customers seated at a table, according to the regional ordinance adopted on Friday but which entered into force on Saturday until November 6.

Another measure: the sale of take-out alcohol will be prohibited after 6 p.m., as will the consumption of food and drink on public roads.

However, home food delivery remains authorized.

Compliance with these measures will be ensured by the police.

"

The controls will be even more incisive and numerous

", promised the prefect of Milan, Renato Saccone.

The peninsula passed the symbolic threshold of 10,000 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours on Friday, confirming the inexorable rise in contamination in the country despite the restrictions imposed by the government.

The most affected region of the country, Lombardy has decided to give an additional turn of the screw, which mainly targets the activities of young people: sport, outings and education.

The colleges will thus have to alternate distance and face-to-face teaching.

Finally, the regional ordinance prohibits visits to residences for the elderly, except on presentation of an authorization from the establishment's medical manager.

The second most affected region behind Lombardy, Campania (south-west), the region of Naples, has also decided this week on additional restrictions, including the controversial closure of schools as well as the ban on parties and funeral processions.

To prevent an outbreak of cases, the government of Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte had decided on October 7 to make it compulsory to wear a mask outside throughout the country and to extend the state of emergency until January 31.

Those who do not wear masks outside their home face a fine of up to 1,000 euros.

According to the Italian press, Giuseppe Conte would also consider giving a new turn of the screw at the national level and following the example of France by establishing an at least partial curfew from 10 p.m.
