Deconfinement: the French Judo Federation challenges the Prime Minister

2020-06-23T21:10:20.362Z

The president of the FFJDA, Jean-Luc Rougé, wishes the resumption of his sport in clubs for young people under 12 years old.

The judokas are mobilizing to resume their sporting activity as quickly as possible. This Monday, the French Federation indeed sent a letter to the Prime Minister to ask him that the health protocol of national education concerning the practice of sport for young people under 12 years old also applies within clubs.

"The Ministry of National Education has authorized the practice of ball games, contact sports and team sports within the same class at school and college, so I do not see why clubs should be excluded , says Jean-Luc Rougé, president of the French Judo Federation. We also ask for a complete resumption of judo during phase 4 of the deconfinement on July 14. "

The government authorized on June 22 the resumption of the practice of team sports and the training of high performance athletes, but the practice of combat sports remains suspended. "We are surprised at the unequal treatment," says Jean-Luc Rougé. There may be pressure from team sports due to the economic aspect ... We feel left out, unloved ... The clubs want to find their licensees. There are requests from families to town halls to open the rooms. "

Traditionally, the judokas, numbering 600,000 in France, receive their new belt in June. The belt is the distinctive sign between the different judokas, it indicates by its color the level of the one who wears it. "The clubs want to finish the season as well as possible and we deprive the children of a joy, it's a shame," concludes Jean-Luc Rougé.
