The new Portofino M, where M stands for "modified" which in Ferrari jargon indicates projects undergoing an evolution that has contributed to improving performance, is equipped with a renewed 3855cc V8 turbo engine capable of delivering 620hp, 20hp more than the Portofino. which pushes it to over 320Km / h with an acceleration from 0 to 100 Km / h in just 3.45 seconds.
A 3855cc engine that belongs to the family of 8-cylinder V-turbos that the Maranello enthusiasts know well and that won the "International Engine of The Year" award for four years in a row.
Completely redesigned also the 8-speed gearbox installed for the first time in an open roof car of the Prancing Horse.
In particular, it is based on a double clutch architecture in an oil bath whose overall dimensions have been reduced by 20%, while the transmitted torque has increased by 35%.
From the point of view of vehicle dynamics, however, the greatest innovation of the car is undoubtedly the introduction of the 5-position lever, an absolute novelty for the Prancing Horse GT spiders.
Its goal is to extend the already excellent handling and traction performance of the Ferrari Portofino by adding the "Race" mode: this position, supported by the activity of the Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer, is mainly focused on maximizing the driving pleasure of the car.
Also renewed the design of the bumpers that now make it even more sporty and aggressive.
On-board comfort has been improved with the introduction of new content available on request including Adas systems and ventilated and heated seats.
The Ferrari Portofino M thus confirms the dual soul of the car from which it derives: the only one that can be defined as a true closed roof coupe and a true open roof spider thanks to Retractable Hard Top technology, the trademark of the Prancing Horse convertibles.
The Portofino M marks the restart for the Maranello house after the period of closure due to Covid: the premiere of the car for this very reason followed an innovative online format for what was in effect an absolute first in over 70 years of history of the Maranello company.
