The driver of a tractor and his passenger, a 12-year-old boy, were killed late Monday afternoon in Rosières (Haute-Loire) in the accidental overturning of the machine.
Alerted at around 5.30 p.m., the firefighters and the Samu de la Haute-Loire medical team could not keep the victims alive, crushed under the weight of the tractor before dying from their injuries.
Loss of control
The exact circumstances of the accident have yet to be determined. The first elements indicate that the 54-year-old driver was unrelated to the child. He would probably have lost control of the machine in a steep meadow.
"He would have gone straight," relates the public prosecutor of Puy-en-Velay to L'Éveil de la Haute-Loire. In the swerve, one of the two victims was ejected from the device. An autopsy of the driver's body should take place in the coming days.
