Norbert Waller from Fürstenfeldbruck was known far beyond the region as a specialist for very special companions: saxonette. Now he died very suddenly.
Fürstenfeldbruck - Long before the e-bike, there was a type of bike in which the rider was not solely dependent on muscle strength. Saxonette called the vehicle, named after the two-stroke petrol engine with which it was equipped. There are few mechanics who are familiar with these wheels. Norbert Waller was one of them.
The Brucker was known far beyond the region as a specialist for saxonettes - his customers came from Austria. Waller's bike workshop with an attached sales room in the basement of his home was considered an insider tip. There were no hopeless cases for him. "He never sent a customer away, no matter how old and broken the bike was," says Wallers wife Angelika. Sometimes she watched him repair switch groups or brake systems. "He worked as precisely as a surgeon," she recalls.
Even Brucker, born in 1963, was not a great cyclist. He preferred to ride a motorbike or take his wife across the Danube in a motorboat. His professional roots also lay in the PS area. Waller completed an apprenticeship as a car mechanic after completing secondary school in West and then went to the Bundeswehr as a regular soldier for twelve years. On Fursty he made his master and learned to drive pretty much all types of vehicles in addition to the car - including trucks and heavy goods vehicles.
He met his great love at a carnival ball in Schwabing
Waller met his great love Angelika in 1988 at a carnival ball in Munich-Schwabing. The then 24-year-old got it right away - and yet he went home that evening without the phone number of the pink lady dressed completely in pink, who had fascinated him so much. He took only the pink tulle bow from her hair - a souvenir that he kept for the rest of his life. He got the phone number of the lady with some effort in the following days.
In September of the same year, the young couple moved into an apartment in Fürstenfeldbruck. The couple married on January 22, 1998 - exactly ten years to the day after their first meeting. A few months later, son Stefan was born.
The morning of his death he went to the bakery
There was nothing the family could have prepared for Norbert Waller's sudden death at the age of 56. He had no serious health problems. On the morning of his death he went to the bakery as usual and put a bag of bread rolls in front of his mother's door. When he later did not open his shop as usual, his relatives found him lifeless in the workshop, where he had apparently broken down with a serious heart attack.
The shock of his early death is great among acquaintances and customers. For many, the skilled craftsman and marksman was more than just the professional who got their bikes back on their feet. "He listened to people's concerns and always took the time to talk to them, no matter how much work he had," says Angelika Waller. Many people have written to her that they have lost a friend.
