The game began tragically: After a corner kick in the fifth minute, David Luiz and Raúl Jiménez clashed - it was followed by a ten-minute break.
While Luiz, who had suffered a cut on the forehead, could continue with the bandage, the Jiménez had to be carefully taken from the field on a stretcher and immediately to a hospital.
In the end, Wolverhamton Wanderers won 2-1 (0-0) at Arsenal FC.
It was the first in 41 years.
The incident had no impact on the performance shown by the Wolves, they even took the lead: Dendoncker headed the crossbar after a fine Traoré cross before Pedro Neto pushed in (27th).
But the answer followed quickly: Following a corner, Gabriel hit a header to equalize (30th).
There were defensive gaps on both sides, and the guests had more dangerous offensive actions.
Dendoncker failed with his head to Leno (34.), Pedro Neto suffered the same.
But because Podence followed up well, grabbed the rebound, then skilfully took Gabriel out of the game and finally pushed in (42nd), the guests nevertheless went into halftime with a narrow lead.
After the break, the Gunners acted with more courage, they started more and more and took more risks.
However, there were no good kills.
It was the third consecutive home defeat for Arsenal FC.
The team of Mikel Arteta, currently 14th in the table, has lost the connection to the European Cup places.
