The parish invites you to an information event.

Herrsching -

For three years now, bells have stopped ringing at weddings in St. Martin's Church in Herrsching.

Since then, the prayer, noon and evening bells have also ceased because the structure of the church tower from 1687 has been too badly affected.

In order for the bells to ring again, the landmark of the Ammerseegemeinde has to be renovated.

As if the parish community did not already have enough construction sites with the renovations in Breitbrunn and Inning, this is now the third.

And pastor Simon Rapp is also hoping for many supporters in Herrsching in order to cover the costs.

On Friday, September 25th, there will be an information event in front of the little church.

Start: 6.30 p.m.

The hall building with the choir is from the late Gothic period, the first documentary mention dates from 1131/32.

Elsewhere, the construction of the Martinskirche by the Benediktbeuern monastery is dated to the year 1248.

During a renovation in 1963/64, the nave was extended by a yoke with an organ gallery to the west.

The most recent renovation, moving the entrance to the south side, took place in 1984. “In this context, the natural stone wall coverings in the chancel and the ceiling paintings were probably also removed,” says architect Christoph Welsch.

In the course of a building inspection in 2016, damage to the roof structure was found, which impaired the stability of the church.

The damage affects load-bearing wooden components of the roof structure, the false ceilings and ladder stairs in the tower, the support and substructure of the bell cage and the bell cage itself.

Since scaffolding of the church and the tower is required, minor damage to the facade plaster is repaired and the facade painting is renewed.

Welsch estimates the total costs at 400,000 euros.
